Aberdeen Middle Students Start Green Garden
Students and staff at Aberdeen Middle School were busy outdoors on Tuesday.
Students from Aberdeen Middle School recently recycled wooden pallets into vertical gardens, creating a place to grow vegetables and fruit at the school.

Students in sixth and eighth grade, with help from teachers Elizabeth Cartier, Allison Clark, Wendi Hurst, Alex Keene and Ryan Koch worked Tuesday to complete the project. It also involved a fundraising element.

Hurst said that Veterans Compost in Aberdeen delivered a yard of planting mix to aid in the project.
In an email, Hurst wrote: "Students also recycled toilet paper and paper towel rolls to create the seed planters, and water bottles to create watering cans. The fruit and vegetables will be harvested late in this school year or in the early fall."
