Aberdeen Trash, Recycling Moved Earlier Due To Heat

Have your trash and recycling to the curb by 5 a.m. this week.

The City of Aberdeen is trying to beat the heat.

To do so, they'll have to beat the alarm clock.

The city's department of public works will move up trash and recycling collection Thursday and Friday mornings, when the heat is expected to reach triple digits.

The city put out an automated call Wednesday evening, alerting residents that collection would come a little earlier the following morning. Here's the message from City Hall:

Hello. This is the City of Aberdeen's Department of Public Works with an important message. Due to the excessive heat, our solid waste and recycling schedule has been slightly modified. On Thursday, July 18, trash and recycling for Zone 4 pick up will begin at 5AM. On Friday, July 19, yard waste pick up for Zones 1 & 2 and scheduled bulk pick ups for Zones 1, 2, 3 & 4 will also begin at 5AM. If you are scheduled for a pick up please have your items out by 5AM. Thank you for your cooperation. Goodbye.
