Michael C. Ritondo

"Michael C. Ritondo of Aberdeen, MD, and Lexington, SC, age 69, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, at the Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC, after a brief illness.

"He was married to Mary E. Ritondo, his high school sweetheart, for over 46 years.

"Born in Pittston, PA, Mike was the son of Josephine Ritondo and the late Michael S. Ritondo. He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Michael E. (Willow) Ritondo; daughters, Michele (Paul) Yurechko and Kerry Ritondo; grandchildren: Owen, Ethan, Anson and Eden Ritondo, and Katie Yurechko; and sister, Josie Kandrac. 

"Mr. Ritondo coached Parks and Recreation baseball and softball in Aberdeen for several years. He served as president of the st. Joan of Arc School Parents Association and served on the Parents Advisory Board of the John Carroll School for many years. He 
also served as president of the Aberdeen Jaycees and was a former member of the Aberdeen Lions Club. He was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Aberdeen, for more than 46 years. 

"Mr. Ritondo earned a bachelor's degree from Loyola College in 1970. He served his country for 35 years as a physical scientist at Aberdeen Proving Ground beginning his career in Army Materiel Testing and Evaluation in 1962. He served the Army in a civilian capacity in various organizations to include D&PS, AMSAA, TECOM, and ATEC before retiring from EAC as a division chief in 1997. Following his retirement. he established an Aberdeen site office for SRS Technologies. Subsequent to this, Mr. Ritondo accepted a position as office chief for Quantum International, Bel Air. After retiring in 2005, he established MR Consulting, a self-owned and operated firm providing test and evaluation support to agencies at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, and Ft. Belvoir, VA. Throughout his career, Mr. Ritondo received numerous Army awards for technical and managerial 
excellence. 

"His passion was his five wonderful grandchildren. When not with them, he enjoyed watching Baltimore Ravens and Orioles games, fishing, telling jokes, and lunching with retired friends. 

"The family will receive friends in the family owned Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A., 333 S. Parke St., Aberdeen on Friday, December 17 from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Samuel V. Young in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 222 S. Law St., Aberdeen on Saturday, December 18 at 10am. Entombment will follow in Harford Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

"In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joan of Arc School. 230 South Law Street, Aberdeen, MD 21001, are gratefully requested."
