IronBirds MVP Velleggia Promoted to Delmarva

' 2011 MVP Joe Velleggia has been promoted to Class A Delmarva

Velleggia, a Monkton native and a product of , had two doubles and a triple with the IronBirds this season after belting seven homers with 35 RBIs in 57 games in Aberdeen last season.

Joining the IronBirds are infielder Anthony Caronia and catcher Cameron Edman, both promoted from the Orioles Gulf Coast League affiliate.

Aberdeen has been involved a handful of moves since opening day.

The Orioles promoted IronBirds right-handers Ryan Palsha and Zach Petersime to Delmarva on June 25, and transferred infielder Tom Winegardner to the club's Gulf Coast League affiliate. In return, lefty Dustin Ward was added from the Gulf Coast League, and outfieder Lucas Herbst, a 26th-round draft pick this month, was added to the roster.

On June 22, right-hander Ken Wise was promoted from the Gulf Coast League, and infielder Ryan Zrenda was released.
