During the period April 29-May 6, AVFD received 71 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:
April 29: At 1:14 p.m., a local rescue box was requested on the 5400 block of Council Street in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded and rescued a heron entangled in kite string from a tree.

May 2: At 8:14 a.m., a natural gas leak was reported on the 4900 block of Leeds Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD andΒ Halethorpecareer station responded and mitigated the hazard until BGE arrived.
May 3: At 4:02 a.m., an assault with injury was reported at UMBC. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one person with non-life-threatening injuries to a local hospital.

May 3: At 12:54 p.m. aΒ pedestrian struck by a vehicle was reported on the 5100 block ofΒ Westland Blvd. in Arbutus Crews from the AVFD andΒ CatonsvilleΒ career station responded and transported one person with non-life-threatening injuries to a local hospital.
May 4: At 9:45 p.m., aΒ motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported onΒ I-695 between Exits 11 and 12 in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD andΒ CatonsvilleΒ career station responded to find property damage only.
