Road Scholar: Wilkens Avenue Beltway Bridge

Work is progressing on the over Wilkens Avenue.

The footings for two lanes and the westbound exit ramp have been cast, and the ramp for eastbound Wilkens Avenue--presently being used for Wilkens traffic in both directions--has been completed.

More work remains on the ramp that leads to westbound Wilkens and Kenwood Avenue.

Bottom line: Still a ways to go.

The project began in late 2011 and is expected to take about two years, according to state highway officials.
