Rush Hour Crash Closes Arbutus Beltway Lanes

Two sent to hospitals after five vehicles crash near Southwestern Boulevard exit.

A series of crashes involving five vehicles resulted in two people being sent to area hospitals and closing two lanes of the outer loop of the Beltway near the Southwestern Boulevard exit, according to state police officials.

The incident was reported at 5:02 p.m., police said.

Two people were hurt in the incident. One was transported to St. Agnes Hospital, while the other was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Neither victim has life-threatening injuries, according to state police.

The two middle lanes of the outer loop were closed while crews responded to the scene. All lanes of the Beltway were opened by 5:25 p.m., according to state police.
