Video du Jour: Scorched into Memory

B Green fire made way for Lansdowne Station.

The B Green & Co. food distribution warehouse was a landmark on the 3600-block of Washington Boulevard until a multiple-alarm fire destroyed the structure on the afternoon of May 14, 2005.

The 376,200 square-foot warehouse dated from the 1940s. It had been vacant for about 18 months prior to the fire. An additional warehouse built in the 1980s survived the blaze, only to be razed to make room for the 60-acre Lansdowne Station retail and office complex that took its place in 2007.

The fire, which caused an estimated $5 million in damage, was ruled arson by investigators.
