MD Eatery's Apple Pie Named Among Best In United States

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore eatery was among eight businesses that recently earned a nod for having the best apple pie in the United States, according to one travel website.

In a roundup celebrating the classic dessert and American picnic staple, Places.Travel said anyone with a sweet tooth should head to Dangerously Delicious Pies, located at 810 W. 36th St. in Baltimore.

"The name says it all! Settle into this edgy rock n’ roll-themed Baltimore spot for an Apple Crumb Pie that’s earned national acclaim—just ask Bobby Flay," Places.Travel wrote. "The crumb topping, a crunchy combo of brown sugar, oats, and butter, is absolutely unforgettable. Bonus: You’ll often catch live music and bourbon cocktails at the bar in the evening. Pie and a show? Yes, please."

Founded in 1999 by Rodney Henry, a season 9 finalist on "Food Network Star," Dangerously Delicious Pies serves up a wide selection of sweet and savory pies, as well as quiche. The business also doubles as a music venue.

"I’m a rock and roller. Sometimes rock-n-roll don’t pay the bills. Pie pays for rock and roll," Henry wrote on the business' website. "Our sweet and savory pies are some of the best you’ll taste and the 'Pie Posse' is the best around. Rockers, artists, roustabouts baking and turning you fine folks onto something completely original and delicious."
