BALTIMORE, MD — Travelers are increasingly springing for cozy vacation rentals rather than traditional hotels, and business is booming in many cities, including Baltimore. So it makes sense that a new report named Baltimore the 29th best city in the country to invest for Airbnb.

Experts from Investment Property Exchange Service (IPX), a Fidelity National Financial Company, looked at cities with at least 150,000 people to determine the best locations for investment properties.

Then they calculated the daily Airbnb rate, rate of Airbnb occupancy and estimated monthly mortgage payment in each city to find which were most likely to have investors turning a profit.

The Golden State is home to four of the top 10 cities to invest in, according to the report.

That includes Moreno Valley, ranked the No. 1 city for investors with a yearly profit for Airbnb hosts of more than $33,000.

These are the top 10 cities for Airbnb investors, according to IPX:

  1. Moreno Valley, CA
  2. Virginia Beach, VA
  3. Pasadena, TX
  4. Garden Grove, CA
  5. Fremont, CA
  6. Grand Prairie, TX
  7. Columbus, GA
  8. Oxnard, CA
  9. Orlando, FL
  10. Shreveport, LA

Renters, meanwhile, ought to flock to Spokane, Washington, where half of the vacation rentals are run by so-called “superhosts,” meaning the owners go “above and beyond” to provide the best experience for guests.

“You can be sure you’ll find a chocolate on your pillow (and maybe even a towel in the shape of an animal) at these Airbnbs,” the IPX researchers wrote.

Eugene and Portland, both in Oregon, also ranked in the top five for renters.
