BALTIMORE, MD — Authorities are investigating a shooting on Vine Street that killed a 6-year-old boy on Saturday, according to reports.

The boy was found dead in a southwest Baltimore home when police responded to a call on the 800 block of Vine Street about 2:45 p.m., the Baltimore Banner reported, quoting Police Commissioner Richard Worley.

He was alone in the home and had suffered a gunshot wound, the Banner report said.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, WMAR 2 News reported. Authorities said it was unclear whether someone had shot the boy or if he had shot himself.
