BALTIMORE, MD — A bar in Baltimore recently caught the attention of Hollywood actress Melanie Griffith.

As the name suggests, Melanie’s at Griffith’s Tavern pays homage to the 64-year-old actress who has family from Charm City.

"Well…. Who knew! I am honored to have this Tavern, in the city my father's family hails from, named after me," she posted to her Instagram account over the weekend. "It looks like a destination one can have 'a good a-- time' !! And… they serve non-alcoholic drinks! My kinda place."

Considered one of America's most famous actresses, Griffith has been working in television and movies for more than 50 years, sharing the screen with such leading men like Bruce Willis, Paul Newman and Antonio Banderas. Some of her past movies include "Working Girl," "Lolita," and “Cecil B. Demented" by Baltimore filmmaker John Waters.

In March, Allison Crowley and Hannah Spangler took over Griffith’s Tavern in Hampden from its previous owner, Rick Koehler, who had run it for 45 years, according to Baltimore Fish Bowl. They then updated the bar's name by adding the "Melanie's" part.

Crowley and Spangler told the news outlet that they want the tavern to be a space where LGBTQ customers feel safe and comfortable, while continuing to serve longtime regulars who have relied on the tavern for drinks and good conversation for decades.

The pair told WJZ-TV that Griffith’s post has been good for business, and they've received new Instagram followers.

The tavern is located at 3631 Hickory Avenue in Baltimore.
