On MLK Jr. Day, Visit These Maryland National Parks For Free
The National Park Service offers free days at parks that normally charge entrance fees. See when fees will be waived in 2022.

MARYLAND — Often viewed as a federal holiday or a day to give back to communities, Martin Luther King Jr. Day also offers something special to those hoping to spend a day outdoors in Maryland in 2022.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the next chance residents will have to pay a free visit to national parks in Maryland that normally charge entrance fees.
The holiday is one of the several opportunities each year to visit national parks for free. The entrance fee waiver does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping, boat launches, transportation or special tours.

The National Park Service lists online all parks requiring entrance fees and the amount of the fees. Here are just some of the Maryland parks that will waive entrance fees on Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
- Antietam National Battlefield: 302 E Main St, Sharpsburg, MD 21782; Hours: Visitor center is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Assateague Island National Seashore: 11800 Marsh View Lane, Berlin, Maryland 21811; Hours: Visitor Center is open Thursday - Monday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine: 2400 E Fort Ave, Baltimore, MD 21230; Hours: Park gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
