Preakness Stakes 2023: Meet the Horses Entered In 148th Annual Race
Kentucky Derby winner Mage is ready for his next race, the 148th running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Maryland May 20.

BALTIMORE, MD — The thoroughbreds are ready for the second race in the 2023 Triple Crown Series. Saturday will see the running of the 148th Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
The competing field of eight has been running the course over the last few days to prepare for the Grade 1 stakes.
Kentucky Derby winner Mage is the only horse from the Derby to participate in the Preakness. The Derby long shot is looking to strike gold twice en route to the Triple Crown.

The race will be less than two minutes, but there are several standout horses in addition to Mage ready to outpace one another. The $1.5 million purse is set for the 1 3/16-mile race and can be watched on NBC at 6:50 p.m. E.T.
