BALTIMORE, MD — The Baltimore Ravens are placing the team's mascot, Poe, on injured reserve, Head Coach John Harbaugh announced Thursday.

"Unfortunately, he sustained a serious injury to his drumstick, and he will not be able to perform for the rest of the season," Harbaugh said.

Poe was strutting his stuff Saturday while participating in the inaugural mascot classic, a youth football game played during Baltimore's preseason finale against the Washington Commanders. That's when a young player swooped in and tackled him from behind, Sports Illustrated reported.

According to ESPN, many people thought that Poe's encounter with the player was part of an act. Three people ultimately lifted Poe in a cart before he was wheeled off the field at M&T Bank Stadium.

While Poe sits on the sidelines, Harbaugh says the team is currently looking high and low for a replacement.

"We're going to find a replacement. We're going to go to work on that right away. We'll turn over every stone, scour everywhere, and find his replacement," he said.
