BALTIMORE, MD — Tony Siragusa, a former defensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts, has died, according to reports. He was 55.
Affectionately called “Goose” by teammates and colleagues, Siragusa died in his sleep, Pro Football Network reported.
Former Ravens teammate Brad Jackson told reporter Aaron Wilson: "He was the leader, he was our captain. He meant everything to everyone. It's a sad day. I just talked to him on Sunday. It's terrible."

“It’s a sad day to be a Raven I must say,” former running back Jamal Lewis told TMZ.
Siragusa's death comes after the Ravens said Wednesday that 26-year-old outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson also died. Police officers found Ferguson unresponsive and being treated by medics at a home on the 400 block of Ilchester Avenue.
"Ferguson never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. No signs of trauma was found or foul play suspected at this time," the police department told Patch in an email.
Ravens broadcaster Gerry Sandusky called it "one of the saddest days in Ravens history."
"The deaths of Jaylen Ferguson and Tony Siragusa on the same day leaves every Ravens fan stunned. A player so young with potential, and a legend who brought so joy and impact to the field. Gone. Tough to wrap your head around," he said.
Siragusa was a native of Kenilworth, New Jersey, where he attended David Brearley High School.
A mountain of a man, Siragusa stood 6 feet, 3 inches and played at 340 pounds. He went undrafted and signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 1990, eventually earning a job as a starter for the 1992 season. He signed with the Ravens five years later, and played a key role in the team's Super Bowl-winning season, playing alongside superstars Ray Lewis, Rod Woodson, Sam Adams and Adalius Thomas.
The vaunted defense set a record for fewest points allowed during the regular season.
Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted: “The Goose, Tony Siragusa has passed away at 55.. I’m heart broken as is all of Colts Nation.”
