Harford County Man Arrested For Selling Cocaine: Police

A 61-year-old Harford County man has been arrested for selling cocaine, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 61-year-old Harford County man has been arrested for selling cocaine in Carroll County.

On Dec. 16, 2024, around 1 p.m., Thomas Wayne Hawkins was stopped for a traffic violation in Carroll County. A K9 was brought in to carry out an open-air sniff test of Hawkins' vehicle, which tested positive for drugs. Officers found five ounces (146 grams) of suspected cocaine. He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Carroll County Detention Center, according to police.

Law enforcement carried out a search and seizure warrant on the vehicle and Hawkins' Harford County home. They found several scales with illicit narcotics residue, packing tools and materials with residue, an electronic money counter, paraphernalia and approximately $4,690. He has since been charged with controlled dangerous substance possession not cannabis, controlled dangerous substance possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

On Dec. 19, a grant jury indicted Hawkins on an additional charge of distribution of controlled dangerous substance and a felony arrest warrant was issued. He was arrested at his home with the help of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to police.
