
A Towson University student from Bel Air was among five students to receive $15,000 in scholarships for the coming fall semester.
Kurt Karolenko, a double major in computer science and medicinal chemistry from Bel Air, was among those honored with scholarship money from the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum, whose goal is to foster excellence in business and information technology, according to a release.
In his application, the graduate sited his love for art and computers and how those passions come together with his goal to design websites, according to a release from the university. He is the webmaster for the University's student newspaper, The Towerlight.

“Towson University offers an excellent education both in and out of the classroom for students interested in developing the skills needed to enter the Information Technology profession - and this award is a great opportunity for the Forum to give back to the university and to bring us closer to the talented students coming into our profession," David Vordick, vice president and CIO of CNA and member of the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum, said in a press release.
