Harford County's Boom Theatre Company continues its production this weekend of a play that hits home just down the road.
The company is performing four shows this weekend and next of "The Baltimore Waltz," the 1996 play by Paula Vogel, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1998 for the play "How I Learned to Drive."
"The Baltimore Waltz" is the story of an unmarried schoolteacher named Anna diagnosed with a fatal disease who goes to Europe with her brother. Vogel said the play was inspired by experience dealing with her brother's illness and death in a talk at the Comparative Drama Conference.
All four shows—this Friday and Saturday and July 26 and 27, will be performed at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Harford County at 7 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $12 to $15 and can be purchased in advance on BOOM's website.
