Firefighter Funeral To Cause Delays In Harford County
A firefighter from Harford County who served two fire companies will be memorialized this week.
JARRETTSVILLE, MD — A Harford County firefighter who died in the line of duty last week will be remembered with services in Jarrettsville, prompting law enforcement to issue a traffic advisory.
Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company Secretary Janet Holbrook, who died Feb. 22, will be memorialized with services at the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"Please be patient and expect delays," the Harford County Sheriff's Office advised, particularly for drivers whose routes include MD 165 near the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company.

Traffic may be backed up Tuesday afternoon and evening as well as Wednesday, officials said.
The viewing for Holbrook will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company fire hall, 3825 Federal Hill Rd.
Once the procession has left the fire hall, a reception will be held at the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company, 1407 Pylesville Rd.
Holbrook, 52, of Street, was a lifelong member of the Delta-Cardiif Volunteer Fire Company and was the longtime secretary of the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company, which she and her husband joined after it formed in 1997, according to her obituary.
"Janet will be remembered for her devotion to community," her obituary states, as well as for her "contagious smile, kind spirit and as a loving sister, beloved daughter and devoted wife."
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may go to the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 222, Pylesville, MD 21132 and/or Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 15, Delta, PA 17314.
