Harford To Require Masks For Visitors At County Buildings Jan. 4

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Harford County announced Monday that it will require masks for visitors inside county buildings and for county government employees who interact with the public beginning 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 until further notice.

The move is consistent with Gov. Larry Hogan’s updated COVID-19 safety measures announced the same day that requires face coverings for employees and visitors in all state buildings and leased space in all public or shared spaces.

According to the county, by requiring visitors and some county employees to mask up, it hopes to maintain staffing levels and keep county government open and serving customers through the surge in COVID-19 cases.

Officials said Harford County businesses continue to have the option of requiring masks in their facilities. Citizens are encouraged to manage their risk by following best practices, which include wearing masks and social distancing in crowded indoor settings.

Residents are encouraged to get the vaccine and the booster if they are eligible to minimize the risk of serious illness and hospitalization.
