Injured Woman Left In Ditch Overnight After Being Hit By Vehicle, Driver Arrested: HCSO
HCSO has arrested the driver they say hit a woman walking along a road Sunday night. She was found the next a.m. lying injured in a ditch.
ABINGDON, MD — The Harford County Sheriff's Office has charged a 25-year-old Abingdon man with multiple crimes in connection to a hit and run that happened in Abingdon.
On Feb. 10 around 9 a.m., a passerby found a woman lying in the ditch along South Tollgate Road at Aiken Terrance in Abingdon. The woman was badly injured, according to the sheriff's office, and she was flown by medivac to a trauma center.
The initial investigation indicated she had been hit by a vehicle and thrown into the ditch. During the investigation, a person shared information with detectives that led them to the vehicle that hit the woman. On Feb. 11, a sheriff's deputy found the involved vehicle on Logan Circle with damage that indicated it had hit a person, the sheriff's office stated.

Detectives eventually determined that shortly before 6 p.m. Feb. 9, the victim, identified as Amaya Marie Martise, 21, of Abingdon, was returning home from Walmart and walking along Tollgate Road. Detectives believe Martise was hit by Motshabi around that same time. She wasn't found until the next morning. Her injuries are severe and she remains hospitalized in serious condition, the sheriff's office stated.
Lebogang-Ram Motshabi was identified as the driver behind the wheel of the vehicle that hit the victim, the sheriff's office stated. He has been arrested and charged with failure to immediately return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury; failure to report to the nearest police; driving motor vehicle without a license; and driving an uninsured vehicle.

Motshabi was released from the Harford County Detention Center on the morning of Feb. 12 on $5,000 bail.
