JCPenny Opening Friday

The anchor store is slated to open Friday.

Wegmans is expected to gain a fellow anchor store in the Boulevard at Box Hill in Abingdon this week.

JCPenney is slated to open Friday, Oct. 5, according to a story on ExploreHarford.com.

A promotional website for the Abingdon location, however, states it is already open for business. Tom Fidler, senior vice president for MacKenzie retail, explained the business held a soft opening Sept. 29.

The store is expected to be a template for future JCPenney department store locations, Fidler told ExploreHarford.com.

After much anticipation, the leasing agency for Boulevard at Box Hill announced in February JCPenney would join Wegmans as the second anchor to the developing Abingdon shopping center.

The store joins Wegmans, Joe’s Crab Shack, Panera Bread and PNC Bank in the developing shopping center.
