Lyons fled the mall shortly after the shooting, police said. The search for Lyons ended 28 days later when he was found hiding in an Anne Arundel County hotel room.

Judge Diane Adkins-Tobin sentenced Lyons to 93 years Feb. 13, suspending all but 65 years to serve, the first 20 years of the sentence without the possibility of parole. Because this conviction is a crime of violence, Lyons will not be eligible for a parole review until at least half of his sentence is served.

“This significant sentence sends the message loud and clear that gun violence that endangers the lives of our citizens has no place in Harford County. Wesley Lyons will likely spend the rest of his life in prison and I am incredibly proud of the hard work that my office is doing to ensure the safety of our community. As promised, we are trying cases, securing strong and lengthy sentences, and working hand in hand with our law enforcement partners to ensure the public safety of Harford County," said State’s Attorney Alison M. Healey.
