POLL: Are Cell Phones Making Walking More Dangerous?

Patch wants to know if you've ever found yourself in danger while on foot because of your phone.

Everyone knows it's dangerous to use a cell phone while driving but did you know that it's also dangerous to text or talk while you walk?

According to an Associated Press article posted to Yahoo.com yesterday, "distracted walking" is a growing safety concern.

"Reports of injuries to distracted walkers treated at hospital emergency rooms have more than quadrupled in the past seven years and are almost certainly underreported," the story states.

Several states have proposed distracted walking bills that would make it illegal for pedestrians to use electronic devices when crossing train tracks or cross walks.

I know I for one have been guilty of it, having tripped over the curb while walking from my car to the house at least once.
