JOPPA, MD — Detectives continue to investigate the armed robbery of the Rise Dispensary in Joppa, which happened in March 2021 and November 2023. They believe the two incidents are related.

According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, on March 16, 2021, around 7:50 p.m., officers were called to the dispensary for a report of an armed robbery. An employee told police that a man broke into the business after hours and assaulted the employee, then stole cash and took off, the sheriff's office said.

Then on Nov. 13, 2023, around 5:06 p.m., officers were called to the dispensary for another report of an armed robbery. Deputies spoke with an employee of a money currier service company that was picking up cash from the business. A suspect pointed a gun at the employee during the robbery. The registration on the suspect's vehicle showed it had been stolen, detectives said.
