Authorities ID Parole Agent Killed, Rule Death As Homicide: Officials
David Martinez, a six-year employee of the Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correction Services, died Friday evening.

CHEVY CHASE, MD — Authorities have identified the Maryland parole and probation agent found dead inside of a Chevy Chase apartment Friday evening as 33-year-old Davis Martinez, police said Saturday.
Martinez, a six-year employee of the Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correction Services, suffered multiple injuries, which lead to his death, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Department of Police. A medical examiner has determined the manner of death as homicide.
Meanwhile, police are continuing to search for the 54-year-old man wanted in connection with Martinez's death. Martinez was conducting a resident check on the man, Emanuel Edward Sewell, prior to his death.

Sewell, a registered sex offender, was released from prison in 2021. He is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
According to police, officers were called to an apartment in the 2800 block of Terrace Drive shortly before 6 p.m. Friday to do a welfare check on Martinez, who had not reported back to work after meeting with Sewell.

Upon entering the apartment, police found Martinez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sewell was not in the apartment and has not been found, police said.
Sewell is described as a 54-year-old Black man, who is 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds. He may be driving a gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Maryland license plates 93661HT.
Sewell is believed to have Martinez’s badge, according to the news release.
The Maryland State Police have issued a Blue Alert to help locate Sewell, who may be armed and is considered dangerous. Residents are urged not to approach Sewell if they do locate him.
