Bethesda Hit-And-Run Leads To Charges Against Fort Washington Man
A Prince George's County man was charged in connection with a hit-and-run that occurred on Jan. 25 in downtown Bethesda, police said.

BETHESDA, MD — A Prince George’s County man was charged in connection with a hit-and-run that occurred on Jan. 25 in downtown Bethesda, according to the Montgomery County Police.
Anthony Warren Offutt, 46, of Fort Washington was driving an Isuzu NRR box truck when, at about 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 25, he struck an adult male in the intersection of Elm Street and Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, police said.
Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, and the victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, according to police.

Offutt was charged with failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, negligent driving, failure to immediately return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury and other related charges, police said.
Witnesses told Fox 5 that they saw a truck hit a man, stop briefly, and then leave the area. One witness said he saw an older man crossing the street in the crosswalk when he was hit by a truck.
