Claire de Lune is planning to open a new store in downtown Bethesda in the Shoppes of Bethesda shopping center, according to a report.

BETHESDA, MD — Claire de Lune is opening a new store in downtown Bethesda in the Shoppes of Bethesda shopping center, according to a report.

The sleepwear boutique chain will open in the former GNC space at 4925 Elm Street, Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row reported Thursday.

Claire de Lune was founded more than 15 years ago in Lima, Peru, according to the company's website. Carmen Glaser, the company’s founder, wanted to improve people’s sleep by crafting the finest sleepwear in the world with Peruvian Pima Cotton.

The company's name was inspired by the classical masterpiece, composed by Claude Debussy, “Clair de Lune.” Glaser wanted her clients to feel like they were "sleeping on clouds," the company's website says.
