COVID-19 In Montgomery Co: 61 New Cases, 3 More Deaths Reported
Montgomery County recorded 22,421 novel coronavirus cases and 807 deaths since the pandemic hit the region in March.
BETHESDA, MD — Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County climbed by 61 on Monday, while the death toll grew by three.
The latest updates from the Maryland Department of Health bring the countywide total to 22,421 infections and 807 fatalities.
Another 40 may have died from COVID-19 — the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus — but a laboratory test is still needed to confirm the cause of death.

The county — which is home to roughly 1.1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 29,305, according to the latest figures.
Statewide, there have been 123,880 confirmed cases, 3,793 deaths, and 145 "confirmed deaths."

Of the 315 people currently being hospitalized, 82 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
