Beltway Shooting Victims: 'These Men Are Heroes'

Deadly shootings Friday were attempted carjackings gone wrong, provoked by a man already sought for the murder of his wife, police said this weekend.

Malcom Winffel, 45, was allegedly shot when he came to the aid of a woman as the suspect tried to steal her car at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, according to Russ Hamill, chief of detectives for the Montgomery County Police Department.
