Man Sentenced To 8 Years For Carjacking At Chevy Chase Gas Station
A Prince George's County man was sentenced to eight years in prison for a 2021 carjacking at a Chevy Chase gas station, officials said.

CHEVY CHASE, MD — A Prince George's County man was sentenced to eight years in prison for a 2021 carjacking at a Chevy Chase gas station, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Tyrece Jones, 21, of Oxon Hill was sentenced to 25 years with all but eight suspended for the carjacking, State's Attorney John McCarthy said Monday.
Jones was caught on camera in the carjacking of a 42-year-old woman at the gas station, McCarthy said.

On Jan. 14, 2021 at about 8:30 a.m., Jones began assaulting the woman and threw her to the ground at the Giant Gas Station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase after she had finished putting gas into her car, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
According to police, Jones was armed with a handgun and stole the victim’s car keys and struck her with the gun before fleeing in her car. The woman was treated at the scene for her injuries, police said.

The following day, on Jan. 15, 2021, the stolen vehicle was spotted in Prince George’s County, and Jones was taken into custody during a traffic stop inside the stolen vehicle, police said.
