Montgomery County Surpasses 20K Coronavirus Cases
Montgomery Co. has 22,002 cases and 801 deaths. In congregate living facilities, like nursing homes, there have been 1,450 known infections.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County's COVID-19 caseload surpassed 22,000 on Wednesday, according to the Maryland Department of Health.
Health officials reported 69 new coronavirus cases, pushing the countywide total to 22,002. Zero new deaths were recorded overnight. The death toll remains at 801.
Another 40 people, health officials say, may have died from COVID-19, but never got tested. A lab test must confirm an infection before a "probable death" can be added to the official fatality count.

Montgomery County, which is home to roughly 1.1 million people, continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 28,784, according to the latest figures.
Statewide, there have been 121,297 cases, 3,756 confirmed deaths, and 146 "probable deaths." Of the 332 people currently being hospitalized, 79 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Congregate Living Facilities
Statewide, health officials have recorded 6,417 cases in congregate living facilities, including nursing homes. Of those, 3,703 are residents and 2,714 are staff.
The death toll is 760. Seven of those deaths were staff.
Most coronavirus cases at congregate living facilities come from Montgomery County, state data shows. As of Wednesday, there have been 1,450 known infections — 808 are residents and 642 are staff.
The countywide death toll at these facilities is 214. Of those, 212 were residents.
