Silver Spring Man Charged In Several Bethesda Armed Robberies: Police

Montgomery County Police charged a man with a series of armed robberies in the Bethesda area that began in August, police said Tuesday.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County Police charged a Silver Spring man with a series of armed robberies in the Bethesda area that began in August, the department said Tuesday.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Donnell Harris, 29, last Thursday, charging him with multiple counts of armed robbery, first-degree assault and theft-related charges, police said. When Harris was arrested last Friday, he had a black 9mm handgun equipped with a laser, according to police.

Since Aug. 10, a series of armed robberies began in the areas of Rosemary Hills Dr., 16th St. and East West Hwy. in Bethesda. In the eight incidents, each victim described the suspect as a Black male, thin to medium build, about 5-feet, 7-inches tall, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun equipped with a green laser, police said.

During their investigation, detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department and the Maryland-National Capital Park Police-Montgomery County Division developed Harris as a suspect.

After his arrest on Friday, Harris was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has also been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition related charges. He is being held without bond, police said.
