Specialty Houseplant Store Rewild Opens New Location In Potomac

POTOMAC, MD — Rewild, a specialty houseplant store, held a soft opening on Wednesday for its new location in the Cabin John Village shopping center in Potomac.

Founded in 2018, with its first store in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood, Rewild seeks to “inspire a more personal connection to the natural world, maintaining the belief that caring for plants is a deep form of self-care.”

Rewild offers care cards with every plant purchase, as well as interior plant design services for customers — both beginners and experienced plant-care enthusiasts — looking to surround themselves with more greenery.

Among its bigger clients, Rewild partnered with Canopy by Hilton Washington DC Bethesda North in 2022 to create the hotel's Green Room, a new nature-filled room designed to bring guests comfort and well-being

Joseph Ressler, co-founder of Rewild, told Patch that the company has wanted to expand into Maryland. The company "loved all the new changes to Cabin John" and thought the store "would be a great complement to the community," he said.

Ressler and one of his Rewild co-founders, Kyle Cannon, grew up nearby, which also inspired them to open a store in the area.

Rewild specializes in a unique selection of houseplants and pots, while customers receive expert advice or take advantage of the store's plant design services. At its Cabin John Village location, Rewild has a custom-designed potting bench that is the "perfect place to watch plant repotting in action," Ressler said.

Customers get a free repotting service when they purchase a plant or pot, letting them upgrade current plants or fill empty pots without making a mess.

Rewild is the first business to open in the new section of the Cabin John Village shopping center. Rewild's other locations are its Shaw store and its new Capitol Hill store, which opened last month. It also has a store in Arlington's Ballston Quarter.

The store's hours at its Cabin John Village location are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
