This Weekend: What to Know if You're Taking Metro

Expect more delays on the Red Line.

If you’re planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend, expect more delays and more maintenance work. Here’s a few important things to know, according to WMATA:

  • Trains will be sharing the same track between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Twinbrook in order for Metro workers to conduct platform rehabilitations at White Flint and Twinbrook.
  • On the other side of the Red Line, trains will be single-tracking between Takoma and Forest Glen.
  • Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, trains will be running about every 12 minutes between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Fort Totten. At all other stations and outside those hours, train will be running about every 24 minutes.
  • All Red Line riders should tack on 20 minutes to their anticipated travel time.
