Weekend Metro Schedule: 1 Line Will Be Impacted

BETHESDA, MD — After months of pandemic- and construction-related shutdowns, Metro has reopened all 91 of its train stations.

More than a dozen stations have been closed since March 19, around the time COVID-19 first spread through the D.C. metro area. In the summer, four Orange Line stations — Vienna/Fairfax-GMU, Dunn Loring-Merrifield, West Falls Church-VT/UVA, and East Falls Church — were part of a months-long platform rehabilitation project, which started over Memorial Day weekend.

Stations have been outfitted with slip-resistant tiles, stainless-steel platform shelters with charging ports, additional Passenger Information Display screens, energy-efficient LED lighting, and updated speakers for clearer announcements and emergency notifications, according to Metro.

Despite a return to pre-pandemic service levels, Metro says it will continue to enforce social distancing and mask wearing policies, as well as frequently clean its fleet of buses, trains, and transit vehicles.

Here's what to expect if you're taking the Metro this weekend:

• Saturday hours: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Sunday hours: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Red Line trains will run every 12 minutes.

Yellow, Green, Blue, and Silver Line trains will operate every 15 minutes.

Orange Line trains will operate every 18 minutes between and single-track between Cheverly and New Carrollton.
