Around AACC: Week of July 18

Though it is officially summer, there is still a lot going on the AACC campus.

College 101:  Open House for New Students

has scheduled two sessions of a new open house program geared towards those who have been considering heading back to college for whatever reason.

Informational sessions are geared toward those who question whether they can afford college and how they can even begin the registration process. Child care will be available on site.

The sessions will be held on two AACC sites, including:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 3, 6 to 9 p.m., in the Lecture Hall at AACC in Arundel Mills; or
  • Saturday, Aug., 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology Room 100, on the Arnold campus.

Breakout sessions include:

  • How to Identify a Career Goal that Works for You;
  • Financing Your Education -- (military benefits covered at Arundel Mills session on Aug. 3);
  • Information for Veterans to Access Federal Jobs -- (Aug. 3);
  • Continuing Education Job Certifications -- receive job training, professional development and technical skills; (On Saturday, Aug. 6, attend the Continuing Ed Job Certifications Fair.)
  • Prior Learning Assessment -- earn college credit for what you know; and
  • Is Distance Education Right for Me?

Ciao Italia

AACC’s College 4-A Day seminar titled “Ciao Italia” will take place Friday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will discuss the art, history, language, food and wine of Italy and enjoy lunch prepared by chefs from the Kids in College Italian camp. Under the Stars

The Music Department of AACC will present "Under the Stars!" on Sunday, July 24, 7 p.m., at the Cade Center for Fine Arts amphitheater on the AACC Arnold campus. Performers will include the AACC Jazz Ensemble and AACC Wind Ensemble under the direction of Marc Boensel and Marty Knepp. This is a free concert.
