Around AACC – Week of March 7

A county-wide college fair for high school students and families is just one of the many activities coming up this week at AACC.

College Fair 2011, where high school students and family members can talk with more than 125 college representativesΒ and pick up college brochures and catalogs, will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 6-8:30 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by AACC and Anne Arundel County Public Schools and will be held in Jenkins Gymnasium on the Arnold AACC campus. Any women’s history experts out there? AACC is offering a challenge with a free Jeopardy game on women’s history today, March 7, 12 p.m., in the Student Union dining hall. For more information, call 410-777-2218.

TheΒ hip-hop dance group Koolie High will perform a free show on Tuesday, March 8, 11:30 a.m., in the Student Union dining hall. The event is sponsored by the Student Association Campus Activities Board. For more information, call 410-777-2218.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, AACC students will perform dramatic readings of speeches delivered by significant women in Maryland’s history on Tuesday, March 8, 12 - 2 p.m. Titled β€œSoapbox Sisters,” the event is part of the AACC celebration of Women’s History Month and will be held outdoors on the quad (with inclement weather site in the Humanities Building Room 112).

A music concert featuring the Rob Levit Trio will be held on Saturday, March 12, 8 p.m in the Humanities Building Room 112. Levit is a critically acclaimed Annapolis musician, artist, author and educator. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 AACC faculty/staff, $5 with valid AACC student ID. The drama, β€œThe Vagina Monologues,” will be presented in the Pascal Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, March 12, 7 p.m. This is a V-Day 2011 production by AACC faculty and students. An AACC seminar, β€œHealthy Rhythms: Relax, Restore and Rejuvenate” will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event includes introductions to yoga and meditation, participation in a drumming circle to reap positive energy and information on juicing recipes that promote health and wellness. The event will be held on the AACC Arnold campus. There is a $79 fee and advance registration is required. Call 410-777-2325 for more information.

The AACC Pioneers Baseball team will take on Baltimore City Community College, on Thursday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. andΒ Jefferson Community College (NY) on Friday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at home this week.

An information session on the AACC Event, Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism program will be held on Thursday, March 10, 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Humanities Building Room 214, on the AACC Arnold campus.
