Broadneck Teen in Talent Machine's Upcoming 'Can-Can'

Show based on Paris dancers of the 1890's opens this weekend at St. John's Key Auditorium.

The stage of St. John’s Key Auditorium in Annapolis will be transformed back in time to Paris in the 1890’s as the Talent Machine Company brings their second summer show “Can-Can” to the stage this weekend.

"Can-Can" is a high-energy show with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, and follows the showgirls of the Montmartre dance halls during the 1890s. The show embodies the lives, loves and pure zest for life of the more Bohemian citizens of Paris.

The 1960 film of the musical starred Shirley MacLaine, Frank Sinatra, Louis Jourdan, Maurice Chevalier and Juliet Prowse. Famous songs from the show include “I Love Paris,” “Live and Let Live,” and, of course, “Can-Can.”
