The Capital is reporting today that Broadneck resident James Mason III entered an Alford plea in Circuit Court in Annapolis Thursday to second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense.

According to the story by Heather Rawlyk, Mason befriended a 13-year-old victim on MySpace last June, picked her, her 14-year-old sister and two of her friends up in Dundalk, picked up alcohol and drove them to a friend's home on St. Margaret's Drive in Cape St. Claire. He was charged with sexually assaulting the 13-year-old girl later in the parking lot of the Whitehall McDonald's and her 14-year-old friend that night at the Cape St. Claire home.

He will be sentenced in mid-August. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
