Edgewater ATV Driver Dies from Crash Injuries: Police

The 18-year-old driver may have been speeding, police say, and was not wearing a helmet when his ATV crashed into trees.

An Edgewater teenager died Monday night from injuries suffered after his speeding all-terrain vehicle went off a road and crashed into trees.

ATV driver Jeremy A. DePhillip, 18, of Oak Lane in Edgewater was fatally injured in the single-vehicle accident reported about 4 p.m. Sunday, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Investigators say DePhillip’s Can-am Outlander ATV 4-wheeler was traveling at a high rate of speed on Oak Lane toward Central Avenue. DePhillip failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the four-wheeler went off the road, striking several trees.
