Grab and Go Planner for Camp Shoppers and Water Lovers

Two terrific summer camps previews, as well as events for water lovers on tap for this weekend.

Whether you are shopping for summer camps or ready to learn more about the Bay, here are some weekend events for the whole family.

1)Β  AACC Kids in College Summer Camps Open House

When/Where:Β  Sat., Feb. 26, 9-11 a.m., CALT Building, Room 100, Anne Arundel Community College Arnold campus.

Why Go:Β  Anne Arundel Community College offers a wide variety of camps, classes, and activities every summer for students, from preschoolers through eighth graders. Parents are welcome to come to the this open house and talk to the facilitators and teachers of many of the offerings.Β

2)Β  Chesapeake Family Summer Camp Fair

When/Where:Β  Sat., Feb. 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Annapolis Area Christian School, 716 Bestgate Rd. in Annapolis

Why Go: More than 60 local summer camp directors and activity leaders are in one convenient spot to help parents find the perfect summer camp for their children.

Price:Β  FreeΒ 

3)Β  Grandparents Day at the Annapolis Maritime Museum

When/Where:Β  Sat., 10 a.m – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.,Β  Annapolis Maritime Museum.

Why Go:Β  Grandparents and their grandchildren in grades 1-6 are invited to experience four different stations where families can learn together about the Chesapeake Bay ecology, including oysters, horseshoe crabs, and watermen.

Β Price: Β $10 for adults; $5 for children.

4)Β  Saltwater Fishing ExpoΒ Β 

When/Where:Β  Sat., Feb. 26, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Annapolis Elks Lodge 622,Β 2517 Solomon's Island Rd. in Edgewater.

Why Go:Β  Share the thrill of the catch with youngsters at this fishing tackle show and seminar series, with guests who discuss tuna, stripers, and rockfish. You can also shop for the latest gear at great prices from local tackle dealers.

Price: Admission is $5 per person. Kids 14 and under are free.

5) Β Best Friends Game NightΒ -- Note: Β This Thursday Night

When/Where:Β  Thurs., Feb. 24, 6:30 p.m., Broadneck Library

Why Go:Β  Children agesΒ  three to six are welcome to bring their best buddy to take on other best friend teams in a knowledge game. Snacks will be provided and the winning team will receive a prize.
