Magothy River PTSO Raffles Off a Car
The middle school Marlin Family Night is going to be huge, with a car as the big prize.

At some point in time, annual school events become predictable and, well, boring. The Marlin Family Night at Magothy River Middle School had been a tradition for years, but the offerings at the silent auction stayed constant throughout and this yearβs Parents/Teacher/Student Organization felt like it was time to shake things up.
βI wanted to offer something exciting and new, prizes that anyone would really want,β said Margie Goldberg, coordinator for the family event coming up on April 8. βI thought the one thing everyone was hoping to get soon was a car, so I just went for it."Β
She traveled up Route 2 to Bob Bell Hyundai and explained her proposal to the manager at the dealership, Rich Berman. They chose a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, a car so popular, they canβt keep one on the lot for long.

βThough we didnβt get it for free, we got an extraordinary deal, with taxes, tags, and title,β said Goldberg. βIt was very generous.β
Once they got the car, they decided to do a raffle, with tickets selling at $50 each. βWe figured most people would risk that amount for a chance of winning something like a car.β

The PTSO volunteers also collected bigger kinds of items like vacation homes, golf packages, house cleaning services, and gift certificates to some of the finest restaurants in Baltimore and Annapolis.
For those whose names are picked after the car winnerβs, they will get to decide which of the other upscale prizes they wish to have.
Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket, can go to www.marlinnight.com where you can order them online.
But you better be fast. Tickets are selling quickly and they are only issuing 1,000 tickets.
