Patch Picks: Local Summer Camps

From cooking and sports to drama and sailing, here is our list of some of the local camps offered in Broadneck this summer.

March brings us wild weather, college basketball championships, and daylight savings time. But, thanks to Patch, March is also a time to provide readers with information on what kinds of things our kids can do this summer. Here are some choices being offered in our local area.

1)Β  AACC Kids in College

Foreign language, sports, math, and even cooking, Anne Arundel Community College offers a variety of weekly learning opportunities, for preschool through middle school ages, in its Kids in College program.

2)Β  Broadneck Bruins Sports CampsΒ 

Basketball, baseball, cheerleading, soccer, football, field hockey, cheerleading, wrestling, softball, field hockey, and …. what are we forgetting? Β Nearly every sport under the sun is covered in the Bruins’ summer camps.

3) Β Infinity Theatre Company Camps

Infinity Theatre Company brings professional New York City theatre to Annapolis. Their season of new productions for the summer of 2011 has been announced and includes a Frank Sinatra tribute and β€œLittle Shop of Horrors.”

4)Β  Chesapeake Academy’s Summer Programs

Chesapeake Academy’s popular summer program is back for 2011.Β The camps will run from June 20 - July 29, and are open to CA families and the entire community.Β CA offers weekly camp themes, as well as swimming for campers age 3Β½ to 10.Β 

5) Β Cape St. Claire’s Youth Sailing Program

Sponsored by the Yacht Club of Cape St. Claire, the Youth Sailing program is designed for children ages 8-17 and teaches the fundamentals of sailing (including beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels) in a safe instructional environment. At the end of the summer, each junior sailor will receive a certificate of completion.
