Police Identify Man Fatally Shot in Brooklyn Park

Anne Arundel County Police found Michael Compton in Arundel Village Park with gunshot wounds. He died at Shock Trauma Hospital.

Authorities say a Baltimore man was shot to death in a Brooklyn park on the border of Baltimore early Friday morning.

Anne Arundel County Police say the shooting was reported about 1:20 a.m. in the area of Arundel Village Park in Brooklyn. The park is located in the area of Wasena Avenue and Alley 69 which borders the city.

Witnesses directed officers to the site where a man was found lying on the path suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Fire Department personnel took the victim to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital, where he later died.

The victim was identified as Michael John Compton, 21, who is known to stay in the 5000 block of Patrick Henry Drive in Baltimore, police say.

Detectives believe the case is a homicide and are interviewing several witnesses. Compton’s body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
