Police: Rumors of Suspicious Taxi Driver in Bay Hills No Cause for Concern

Police investigated claims of a suspicious taxi driver in the Bay Hills area, concluding that there are no cause for concern.

After rumors spread online of a suspicious taxi driver in the Bay Hills area, police said there was no threat to children, or anyone in the community.

According to a Facebook post being circulated among Broadneck residents, a parent said the driver approached children in the Bay Hills area and asked their names, dates of birth, where they lived and other personal questions. Later, he appeared to be taking pictures of them, according to the post.

Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said detectives investigated the claims this week. Mulcahy said the detective contacted the taxi driver in question, and police ultimately concluded there was no wrongdoing.

Mulcahy said the taxi driver had "legitimate reason to be in that area at that time," and that no pictures of children were taken. The driver may have spoken to the children, but it was not to ask their age or their address, Mulcahy said.
