Ritchie Highway Repaving Slated to Start Tuesday

A road crew is scheduled to begin repaving a 5.5 mile stretch of Ritchie Highway from Arnold to Severna Park Tuesday night.

Travelers on Ritchie Highway have something to cheer aboutβ€”repaving is scheduled to start Tuesday.

Contractors areΒ scheduled to begin repavingΒ a 5.5-mile section of the northbound roadway from US Route 50 to Robinson RoadΒ starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to Maryland Transportation Authority spokesman Charlie Gishlar.

A road crew began stripping the roadway in June, but the paving crew couldn't begin until another project along Ritchie, creating bio-retention swales, had erected concrete walls.

It has been at least 10 years since that patch of roadway has beenΒ repaved, Gishlar said.

The crew will work weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., andΒ the work is expected to be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting, Gishlar said.
