Waterfront Home Engulfed in Flames Overnight

A firefighter sustained minor burns while working to douse flames, a report said.

A home along the Magothy River was significantly damaged by a fire early Monday morning, a fire official said.

There was no one was in the home, but one firefighter sustained minor burns and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

The home in the 400 block of Beach Avenue near Mago Vista was engulfed in flames at 12:30 a.m. Monday, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Keith Swindle.

When firefighters arrived at the home, they immediately called for a second alarm, Swindle said. It took a total of 61 firefighters nearly two hours to get the fire under control, and by the end, the house was very heavily damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Swindle said.
