Whiz Kid of the Week:  Mei Pierson

Age:  6

School:  Arnold Elementary School

Mei recently entered and won third prize in the five- to six-year-old age group in an international “Safety on the Job” art contest sponsored by the North American Occupational Safety and Health Organization.  

With her win, Mei won a savings bond and will be attending the award ceremony at the U.S. Capitol building on May 2. She will also be visiting the Department of Labor, National Gallery of Art, and the pandas in the National Zoo.

Mei loves her little sister, and enjoys playing the piano and helping out with her Daisy troop. She is also fluent in two languages having learned to speak, read, and write in Chinese from her Taiwanese mother (who was recently naturalized).
